DISAPPEARING FARMS OF WESTCHESTER COUNTYOne day soon, there will no longer be a single working farm in Westchester County, New York. Farming hasn’t been profitable or a popular vocation choice for many years and land values in Westchester are some of the highest in the country. So it’s easy to understand why farmers choose to sell rather than face further hardship. To celebrate the hundreds of years of farming history in the county, I tried to capture some of the last moments of farm life.BE A COLLECTORThere’s something noble and basic about farming that reminds us of our roots. Choose an image from my farm collection or ask to see more of my farm photos and be a Molly Ahearn Collector.Stock photography by Molly Ahearn at Alamy ![]() |
